Over the next month we will introduce a few changes to the way pictures in listings are processed and displayed on These changes are designed to improve the size and appearance of pictures and will not affect the way that sellers submit their pictures to be displayed on their listings.
The most significant change will be for hosted vertically-oriented (or portrait) pictures. These will be displayed more efficiently, and will be up to 33% taller than they are today on areas such as My , search and listings pages, and Stores custom pages. Also, square pictures will keep their square proportions, instead of being forced into rectangular dimensions as happens today. In making these changes, we will discontinue the addition of white padding to uploaded pictures to force them to fixed heights and widths.
